The Ludo playbook

Make Ludo your next activity in the game library. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Keep the instructions close while learning this activity. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Practice beyond the first move

Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Keep the objective visible.

Understand the aim

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Check the rules when you are unsure.

How a round unfolds

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Keyboard and screen controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Use the control method described here for this activity. Look at the feedback after the action.

A useful example

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Take a moment to compare.

Notice this detail

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. A different version of the game may use a different rule. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
