The Forty Thieves Solitaire playbook
Bring your attention to one round of Forty Thieves Solitaire. Build eight suit foundations from ace to king. Use the example below to understand a decision. Keep the instructions close while learning this activity. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.
Two decks, ten columns, single-pass stock, no recycle. Free solo play, no wagering.
A focus for your next round
Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow. Notice the feedback after each input.
The challenge in front of you
Build eight suit foundations from ace to king. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Keep the controls in easy reach.
Start here and follow along
- Move one card at a time; build down in the same suit. Empty columns accept one card.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
How to use the controls
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.
Follow the example
A club 5 can move onto a club 6, but a whole run cannot move together. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Look for the relevant detail.
Where a round can go wrong
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
